Tell us about your family – humans and pets!

Our family includes Terri and me (Greg), Boots, Buffy, Benji, Lilly, Annabelle & Sophie (dogs) and George W., Sarah and Samantha (cats).

What do the adults in the family do for a living and for fun?

I am a business executive, and we both love to golf.  Our pets are our children.

Tell us about when you first met the Gentle Doctor team or a story about the team others may not know.

We started at Gentle Doctor with the founder, Dr. Bob Bashara, in 1986 and have been clients ever since. Over twenty-eight years we have rescued twenty-five dogs and nine cats, each having unique personalities. Most had some type of problem and were abandoned because of it.

Do you have wisdom about any medical conditions that you could share with someone who is perhaps just starting to walk their pet through a similar situation?

We have had several blind dogs, even having cataract surgery for one. Most blind animals get along fine when familiar with their surroundings. Others had an enlarged heart, kidney problems, epilepsy and cancer. Whatever the problem was, we and the wonderful doctors and staff at Gentle Doctor cared for  each and every one whatever it took, until it was time to say goodbye. 

Do you have a favorite breed or type of pet?

Poodles have been the majority of our dogs, but we have had Yorkies, Maltese, chiweenie, chihuahua and several mixes. All but one of our cats were rescued also.

Is their a shelter or rescue group that is dear to you that you would like us to help spread the word about?

We support Hearts United for Animals in Auburn Nebraska.

Is there a non-pet related cause you would like us to help spread the word about?

We have helped raise money to fight breast cancer.
